  1. Pros:- Very easy to setup ! even a child can set it up.- lots of features including motion/sound detection, mail, ftp etc etc- night mode works well.Cons:- Camera could have been of a higher resolution.- Motion detection is VERY VERY sensitive even when sensitivity is turned down to 10%. Sends annoying mails with frames captured even when there is no motion on the camera screen.- No way to store video footage out of the box.

  2. Update. Of two cameras purchased, one unit was DoA. D-Link product support is exceedingly poor by F1 Info Solutions in Thiruvananthapuram. I had to wait for more than one hour while the tech who deals with D-Link products went off to have a leisurely afternoon break. Then he didn’t seem to understand the problem and told me he would have to send the unit to D-Link to evaluate. This defeats the whole purpose of buying something online–if you get a bad product, shouldn’t the seller offer to replace the item immediately? Very bad experience.

  3. This is a pretty good solution for low-cost monitoring. We have been using it for the past 8-9 months and the camera performed well. The night mode (Infrared mode) works pretty well. Sound and motion detection works good. However, note the following.1. This is not a replacement for a fully-featured CCTV Monitoring system. Think of it as a quick and dirty, cheap solution, THAT WORKS.2. It has limitations due to its low cost. Listing them here so that you know them before making a purchase decision. a) You cannot watch live video feed for more than 5 seconds or so, without pressing the RESUME button. So you cannot use it as a continuous broadcast solution without manual intervention b) Video resolution is fixed c) You cannot pan and tilt the camera. d) The audio is NOT two-way. You can only hear audio from the side that is being monitored. Your voice cannot be heard by the other party.3. MyDlink app on android phone is pretty good. However, to change detailed settings, you have to go to your computer. Detailed settings CANNOT be changed using phone or tablet.4. MyDlink website on computer seems to be prompting for Java install all the time, even if you have finished that process. It also keeps saying you that you need to install DLink add-on even after doing so a couple of times. This error doesn’t always occur though.5. We use it in mom’s house. I feel that the motion detection sometimes skips. For example, if someone enter my house, it won’t detect them WHILE they enter, however, it sends photos AFTER they enter the house and sit on a chair. This happens almost 50% of the times. I suspect lighting sensitivity is the issue or may be the light that the camera detects once the door is open is too high for it to detect it as a movement, I don’t know.Read more ›
